The Hard Conversations Pack
The conversations you are avoiding are usually costing you more energy than having them.
Why this works
The in-laws, the teacher, the friend who keeps asking, the doctor who did not listen. These get postponed because we draft them badly in our heads. Drafting them well takes ten minutes.
Do this
- 1Name the conversation you have avoided the longest.
- 2Run the prompt for that one.
- 3Edit until it sounds like you, then send it.
Your prompt
I need to have a hard conversation with [person] about [situation]. What I actually want is [outcome]. What I am afraid of is [fear]. First ask me to pick a register: Direct (plain, no softening) or Collaborative (warm, with a thank-you and a little social grease). Some rooms need the second one, and choosing it is not weakness. Then write the message short and clear in the register I pick. Do not make me sound cold. Then give me one sentence to hold onto if they push back.
Swap the brackets for your own details, then paste it into any AI tool.
Today's action
Have one conversation you have been avoiding. Send it. Do not rehearse it again.
You're done when: The conversation is had and you are not replaying it at midnight.
