The 47-Tabs Brain Dump
Forty-seven things are open in your head at once, and none of them closes until it is written down somewhere that is not your memory.
Why this works
Your brain keeps a tab open for every unfinished thing — the permission slip, your mother's birthday, the dentist, the fact that you are nearly out of dish soap. Every open tab costs attention whether you act on it or not. Writing it down does not solve it. It does something more important: it closes the tabs, so your brain stops paying rent on them.
Do this
- 1Open a blank note. Phone, paper, anywhere. Not a pretty app. Blank.
- 2Set a timer for 8 minutes and write everything your brain is holding. Fragments count. Typos count. Do not organize it.
- 3Paste the mess into an AI tool with the prompt below.
- 4Read what comes back once. Do not start doing it today.
Your prompt
Here is everything my brain is holding right now, in no order: [paste your list]. Sort it into four groups: (1) only I can do this, (2) someone else could do this, (3) this is not actually mine to carry, (4) this is not real and I can delete it. For each item in group 2, tell me who it belongs to. For group 3, tell me what to say to give it back. Keep it short. I am tired.
Swap the brackets for your own details, then paste it into any AI tool.
Today's action
Do the dump. That is the whole lesson. Nothing else today.
You're done when: You have one list instead of forty-seven open tabs.
